Although the truth behind the so-called scandals, as well as a decision about any future actions, has not yet been made clear, AKB48 theater manager Togasaki-san has posted a blog regarding his general feelings toward such incidents. Although some may say that it’s simply good PR, I think you can truly feel how much he cares for all the girls through his words, and I hope that I was able to convey that in the translation below.
(The first part of the long post was just about how well the tour has been going, how hard the girls have been working, Team 4′s first solo performance & being able to meet the fans in their hometowns for the first time)
And, in the middle of these concerts, AKB48 Project members’ past blogs and pictures have been spread around the internet, and there have been questions about the aforementioned from many people.
As management, I think that we also have to carefully make the correct decision, but I have a request.
AKB48 is a group where fans watch over and support their “growth” process.
And, as for growing processes, the rules for fans change, the rules for the theater change, and the rules for events change.
Not all of these are correct changes, and there are many blunders, but I believe that these are necessary experiences in order for “AKB48″ to grow on an even bigger scale.
This is only my opinion as an individual, but outside of criminal acts, I would like the “pasts” of members before they joined the AKB48 group to be ignored.
(Excluding the members whose facts have presently not yet been confirmed)
The reason is that, before realizing that a place called AKB48 where “dreams” are granted existed, the girls were regular members of society and ordinary school girls you would find anywhere.
Just like their fans, there may have been attractions to boys in their classes, upperclassmen they liked, and perhaps they have even been in relationships.
Of course, they would also take purikura.
Those girls who were ordinary students entered AKB48 as the place to grant their “dreams”, and are doing their best as every day they take lessons and sweat, cry tears of frustration, and at times, tears of happiness as well.
And I think that at the concerts lately, that is being communicated to the fans.
I know that there are things said by people who don’t understand that AKB48 is a group whose growth is watched over, such as “Isn’t AKB48 only a group with a ton of people?” or “It’s ridiculous to have elections.”
However, what kind of group is AKB48? I know also that those fans who know truly love AKB48 from the bottom of their hearts.
I would like the fans, instead of the members’ pasts, to watch over the the members’ present hard work, sweating and moving toward their dreams, and their futures as well, together with me.
Please continue to support the AKB48 group hereafter as well.
